ANDREW LOGAN'S VALENTINE'S DAY PARTY 1976
from the archive of Dave Smitham
Introduction
The first hint of the Sex Pistols in the national press, was a Sunday Times Magazine Valentine’s Day photo-essay that included Jordan and Piggy (?) attending Andrew Logan’s annual artsy Valentine’s Day extravaganza, published early Spring 1976. The article mentions the band as playing, but makes no further reference to them. This event was the Sex Pistols 10th gig! I saved the image because I loved Jordan’s style - so different to the grandfather collarless shirts and flared denim jeans we were all wearing. I knew nothing at that time about the Pistols, McLaren and Westwood’s Sex Boutique or that punk was about to sabotage our cultural world … my antennae was obviously working well |
