The Men Of No Shame tour featuring Glen and Slim Jim Phantom, arrived in Sydney supported by "Diva Demolition".
Unfortunately Earl Slick had to pull out at short notice due to ill health. Dizzy Davidson and Jake Schembri were brought in at short notice. Dizzy and Jake are australian rockabilly players influenced by the Stray Cats and played with Glen and Slim like they had always been together (except they are so young, and the others are not... as young!)
The Divas did a great warm up and shortly afterwards Glen and Slim took to the stage with (as the Divas put it) the sexy Dizzy/Jake to a rousing reception from the packed house.
Their 15 song set kicked off with a rocking version of "Happy" and covered new and old songs. Glen recited a story about his first australian tour with Johnny Thunders which led into "Blank Generation".
Jim told the story of his first encounter with Glen in the early eighties, which involved a lot of alcohol apparently. Glen introduced "Ambition" teasing Iggy Pop about how he plays it better without the stage antics. Slim Jim claims to still be the same trouser size he was when he first started playing - in which case I'm going on a Slim Jim alcohol diet!
It was great fun, after a short rest Glen and the band came out to chat to the audience and grab a last few beers on what was another hot night in Sydney.
