Introduction
The Sex Pistols fourth single ‘Holidays in the Sun’ was released on the 14th October 1977. The best known Jamie Reid designs for this record - used on the single’s picture sleeve, were maybe his most explicit Situationist Pistol graphics - in which he détourned Belgian Holiday advertisements with the addition of the song’s lyrics. These small ads were individually distributed on different pages of the NME. There is also a less well known advert for the single using a détourned newspaper photo blow-up of a British beach - again collected from the NME at a later date. Dave Smitham
