"I will never forget the first time I saw the Pistols perform live…
It went something like this:
I opened the door to the Nashville just as the fuckin’ Pistols got going.
My eyes looked forward. There stood one Johnny Rotten with a big snot rag in his hand. He was leaning over a microphone stand as he did back then.
John let out this almost animal-like snarling noise. Every fiber of his body went into it. It was primal. I simply could not believe it. Or him!
Then Glen, Steve and Paul lit into one of their tunes. It was all over.
“Fucking hell!” I thought to myself.
The Pistols literally ignited a fire in the audience. Every single fucking person in that club was entranced by them. They just stared. They were stunned.
It took probably about three songs before they even could collect themselves to go to the bar.
The Pistols detonated a bomb in London…
They embodied the “we don’t fucking like this anymore” brief and acted on it. They knocked down doors and cleared the way. It changed the situation… "
