God Save The Sex Pistols Review by Marcel Bizarro

Two weeks ago I saw the Sex Pistols at Lokerse Feesten and a lot of fans showed up and it was a great atmosphere! Before the show I had my doubts about the audience at Lowlands, because it's a three days camping festival and not everyone is going there for the Pistols, like in Lokeren.

Before the Lowlands Pistols show you could feel the exitement, because 99% of the crowd had never seen the Sex Pistols before; it was 31 years ago since they visited The Netherlands. The Grolsch Tent they played in was really packed with people. Much more people showed up in this tent for the Pistols than for the concert of The Fratellis one day later.

The Sex Pistols came on stage 30 minutes after the time they had to start. The crowd went wild when they opened with Pretty Vacant. The most legendary punk band ever looked a bit tired in the beginning (after their visit to Japan and Hungary last week). Johnny also had a sore throat (he uses a bottle of brandy as a medicine), but after a couple of songs they played really well! Probably they played the best Anarchy In The UK I've ever heard!

It was really a big chaos and party in the crowd. In the second encore they played Silver Machine and a very long version of Roadrunner. After 90 minutes the Sex Pistols ended their show. Like The Stooges 2 years ago, The Sex Pistols were the absolute highlight and most exciting act of the Lowlands festival 2008! Never mind the bad critics in the Dutch press!
