Well I went to Barcelona for Summercase festival from Amsterdam exclusively for the Pistols, although Primal Scream, Blondie, Mogwai and Stranglers were great additions.
Hearing Vera Lynn again sounding out what was about to happen like a fanfare just started to get the nerves going and the Pistols did not disappoint. The band were very strong, in particular Paul Cook who was just astounding, nothing fancy, just the Rock of Gibraltar. The set was obviously much the same as when I saw them two nights in Brixton, starting with Pretty Vacant and the encore ending with Bodies and Anarchy, all the set was so solid.
The only thing I thought was the last encore was maybe unnecessary with Silver Machine and Roadrunner, plus they were not that good versions, but what the hell - we saw them for another 10 minutes as well as John's arse as he shuffled off stage. One other thing about seeing them at a festival rather than in Brixton was that the crowd was nowhere as good; there's tones of folks who are not so responsive as a crowd of Pistols fans - they don't get John's attitude but what the hell, we did!!!
Looking forward to Belgium now on the 2nd August, and the best band in the world !!!!!!!!!!!
